Physiotherapy Services in Tetbury
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Tetbury premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Tetbury is a small market town in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, known for its honey-coloured stone buildings and antique shops. The pillared Market House, built in 1655, stands at the heart of the town where Long Street and Church Street meet.
The Chipping Steps, a steep flight of old stone steps, lead down from the Chipping market area. Every spring, the town hosts the Woolsack Races, where runners carry heavy sacks of wool up the steep Gumstool Hill.
The town centre is fairly compact, but some streets are steep, so we often start with level routes along Long Street before tackling the hills. Walking to the shops or a café is a realistic early goal after surgery or a fall.
Housing is mostly old stone cottages and townhouses in the centre, with newer homes on the edges. Many older homes have narrow stairs, uneven floors and steps, which we take into account in our sessions.
Tetbury falls within NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board. Residents are usually treated at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital, and once they are discharged we can continue rehabilitation privately at home.
The town has no railway station, so people rely on buses to Stroud and Cirencester, or on cars. Car transfers and coping with the bus step are practical skills we commonly work on.
Westonbirt Arboretum, with its trees and level paths, lies just to the south-west and is a good place for gentle walks. Doughton and Shipton Moyne are villages surrounded by farmland and stone walls.
The countryside is gently rolling, so we prepare people for slopes, gates and uneven ground before they head out on longer walks.
Highgrove, the private country home of King Charles, lies just outside Tetbury, and its gardens shop in the town is a familiar landmark. The Goods Shed arts centre occupies the former railway building beside the old station yard, and the Chavenage House estate nearby is one of the places people set as goals while they recover.
