Physiotherapy Services in Tobermory
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Tobermory premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Tobermory is the main town on the Isle of Mull, set around a deep, sheltered bay at the northern tip of the island. It was laid out in the late eighteenth century as a planned fishing settlement.
The row of brightly painted houses along Main Street is one of the most photographed waterfronts in Scotland. Children know it well from the television series Balamory, which was filmed here.
Main Street runs flat along the harbour, with benches facing the boats. That level stretch is where many of our clients take their first confident walks outside after a fall or an operation.
Behind the seafront, the upper town sits on a steep terrace reached by winding roads and stepped paths. Getting between the two levels is a real test of leg strength and balance.
The Mull Museum on Main Street tells the story of the island, including the Spanish galleon said to have sunk in the bay in 1588. It is a small, quiet place to practise standing tolerance.
The Mull and Iona Community Hospital at Craignure offers some local care, while bigger operations usually happen in Oban or Glasgow. Our therapists pick up the work once you are back on the island.
Aros Park, on the southern side of the bay, has woodland tracks, a small lochan and waterfalls. Its broad lower path is a gentle goal once you are walking steadily again.
The coastal path to Rubha nan Gall lighthouse leaves from the far end of the harbour. It is uneven and narrow in places, so we save it for the later stages of a programme.
Many Tobermory homes are tall stone townhouses with narrow stairs, while Erray and the upper streets have newer bungalows. We adapt every exercise plan to the layout you actually live in.
Dervaig, to the west, is a small village beside Loch a' Chumhainn with a round-towered church. Salen sits in the middle of the island where Mull is at its narrowest.
Ardnacross and the farms along the Sound of Mull are scattered and exposed to the weather. Indoor exercise routines matter a great deal for clients who live in these outlying places.
