Physiotherapy Services in Trawden
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Trawden premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Trawden is a stone-built village in the Pendle district of Lancashire, lying in a valley just south-east of Colne. Moorland rises steeply behind it towards the Yorkshire border.
The village developed around cotton weaving, and long rows of gritstone terraces still line its streets. Several old mill buildings survive, some now converted into homes.
Trawden Forest is the historic name for the wider area, once a royal hunting ground. Today the name covers the village and the scattered farms and hamlets around it.
Boulsworth Hill dominates the skyline to the south-east. Its summit is a long climb over rough moor, so it is a goal only for those well into their recovery.
Wycoller Country Park lies a little to the north, with ancient packhorse bridges over the beck and the ruins of Wycoller Hall. The hall is often linked with the Brontë novel Jane Eyre.
The track down into Wycoller from the car park is fairly smooth and gentle. It makes a lovely outing once you can walk steadily for a sustained spell.
Burnley General Teaching Hospital handles much of the planned surgery for this part of Pendle. We visit you at home afterwards so recovery carries on without the journey.
Most homes in Trawden are stone terraces with steep, narrow stairs and small back yards. We practise stairs, steps and kitchen tasks exactly where you need them.
Winewall and Cottontree are small hamlets on the road between Trawden and Colne. Their streets slope, which offers useful practice on gradients.
Laneshaw Bridge sits on the road towards Keighley, while Lane House is close to the village centre. Colne itself has a long hilltop main street with plenty of shops.
Many clients here are keen walkers who want to return to the moors. We build stamina and balance gradually so that uneven paths become manageable again.
