Physiotherapy Services in Wantage
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Wantage premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Wantage is a market town in the Vale of White Horse in south Oxfordshire, at the foot of the Berkshire Downs. King Alfred the Great was born here in 849, and his statue stands in the middle of the Market Place.
Markets are still held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the streets running off the square, including Newbury Street, Mill Street and Wallingford Street, keep many Georgian and older buildings. The Vale and Downland Museum tells the story of the area.
Letcombe Brook runs through the town, and Betjeman Millennium Park beside it offers short level paths, a pond and seating. The poet John Betjeman lived in Wantage for many years. The Ridgeway and the Uffington White Horse lie just to the south on the Downs.
Homes include brick and stone cottages in the old centre, post-war estates and large modern developments in Grove and at Kingsgrove. Some newer houses have open-plan ground floors, while cottages often have steep, winding stairs.
Care is commissioned by NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board. Patients are usually treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital or the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and we continue rehabilitation privately once they are home.
Didcot Parkway is the nearest railway station, and buses link Wantage with Oxford, Didcot and Abingdon. Common goals include getting round the Saturday market, walking to the Market Place or joining a group walk on the Ridgeway.
Betjeman Millennium Park is a short, sheltered loop close to the centre, which makes it a useful first outdoor route after a hip replacement or a period in bed.
The chalk tracks up on the Ridgeway are open to the wind and uneven, so we treat them as a later goal for people who want to return to longer country walks.

Safe, structured recovery after surgery to restore strength, mobility and function at home.

Expert assessment and treatment of muscle, joint, bone and soft tissue (MSK) conditions at home.

Helping active people recover from sports injuries and safely return to sport and performance.
