Physiotherapy Services in Wareham
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Wareham premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Wareham is an ancient market town in Dorset, built on a strip of land between the River Frome and the River Piddle. It is often called the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck.
Great earth banks, known as the Saxon walls, still surround the old town on three sides. They were raised by King Alfred to defend the town against Viking raids.
A path runs along the top of the walls, with fine views over the water meadows. It is uneven in places, so we save it for later in recovery.
St Martin's Church, near the north gate, is one of the oldest in Dorset. It holds a stone effigy of T. E. Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia, who lived at nearby Clouds Hill.
The quay beside the Frome is a peaceful spot with boats, benches and a level riverside path. It is one of the best places in town for gentle walking practice.
Surgery for Wareham residents is usually carried out at Poole Hospital or Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. We visit afterwards so recovery carries on in your own home.
The town centre is laid out on a grid of streets around North, South, East and West Streets. Most are fairly flat, though pavements can be narrow.
Homes include Georgian town houses with steep stairs and newer estates at Northport and Sandford. Each layout shapes the exercises we choose.
Northport lies just north of the river, while Sandford is a larger village on the road towards Poole. Both have quiet residential streets.
Stoborough and Ridge sit south of the Frome on the edge of the heaths. Worgret and Wool lie to the west along the river valley.
Many retired people live here and want to keep walking by the river. Strength and balance work helps them do that safely.

Specialist home-based rehabilitation to improve movement, strength, balance and independence for people living with neurological conditions.

Helping older adults maintain mobility, strength and independence safely at home.

Safe, structured recovery after surgery to restore strength, mobility and function at home.
