Physiotherapy Services in Wimborne Minster
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Wimborne Minster premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Wimborne Minster is a market town in east Dorset, where the River Allen joins the Stour. The twin towers of the Minster Church of St Cuthburga, with its chained library, dominate the town centre, and the Square, the Cornmarket and the narrow streets around them are full of Georgian buildings. The town is generally flat, with gentle slopes towards Colehill.
Wimborne has a high proportion of older residents, and many live in bungalows and retirement flats around the centre, Colehill and Merley. Older streets have Georgian and Victorian houses with steep stairs, while Leigh Park and Corfe Mullen have post-war and newer family homes. We tailor each programme to the home you live in.
The riverside paths along the Stour and the Allen give level walking close to the centre, and the Kingston Lacy estate, with its parkland and woodland, is a lovely longer goal. The Square and the High Street are the usual places for errands. Wimborne has no railway station, so buses to Poole and Bournemouth are the main links.
Most hospital care is provided by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, at Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with some community services at Victoria Hospital in Wimborne. NHS Dorset plans services for the county. We visit independently and can work alongside your community team.
The Model Town, a miniature replica of 1950s Wimborne, is a gentle outing with flat paths, and the Friday and Sunday market at the old Wimborne station site draws crowds. Julian's Bridge and Canford Bridge carry traffic over the rivers, and their narrow pavements can feel busy. Many local residents are keen walkers and gardeners, so getting back to the allotment or the garden is a frequent goal.
