Physiotherapy Services in Windsor & Maidenhead
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is one council but two quite different towns. Windsor sits on the south bank of the Thames below the castle, with Eton across the footbridge and Datchet and Old Windsor along the river. Maidenhead lies about six miles upstream to the north-west, a larger commuter town on the Elizabeth line and the Great Western main line, with Cookham, Bray, Holyport and Pinkneys Green around it. In the south of the borough, Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale have a character of their own, closer to the Surrey heaths than to either town.
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Windsor or Maidenhead. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who comes may travel to you from elsewhere. Whether a visit is possible depends on your exact postcode and on therapist availability at the time, so please use the checker on this page rather than going by the name of your town.
Windsor's old centre is compact but not level. Streets such as Peascod Street and Thames Street climb towards the castle, and many homes near the centre are Victorian terraces or converted flats with steep, narrow stairs. Away from the centre, Clewer and Dedworth have more post-war family houses and bungalows. In Maidenhead the town centre is being rebuilt with new apartment blocks, so lifts, fob doors and long corridors are part of daily life for some patients, while Furze Platt, Cox Green and Woodlands Park are mostly semi-detached homes with gardens. In the riverside villages, cottages with low doorways and a step down into each room are common. These are examples; your physiotherapist starts from how your own home is laid out.
Many people in the borough are treated at Wexham Park Hospital near Slough or at Frimley Park Hospital, both run by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot carries out planned operations, so some patients come home there after a hip or knee replacement. Home Physio And Rehab is independent of these hospitals and of the NHS. Please keep your discharge letter and any exercise sheets for the first visit.
Goals here are often outdoors: a walk along the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park, the towpath at Boulter's Lock, or simply getting back to the shops on the High Street without stopping. Your physiotherapist can build up to routes like these step by step. Coverage varies by postcode and therapist availability. Enter your postcode below to check current home-visit availability.
