We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Annan is a town in Dumfries and Galloway near the mouth of the River Annan on the Solway Firth. It is the second-largest town in the region and is built largely of local red sandstone.
The High Street, dominated by the tall spire of the Town Hall, holds the main shops, and the Annan Museum tells the story of the town. The essayist Thomas Carlyle was a pupil at Annan Academy, and the preacher Edward Irving was born in the town.
Riverside paths follow the Annan through the town, and the Solway shore at Powfoot offers wide views across to the Lake District hills. The former Chapelcross power station, now being decommissioned, lies just to the north-east.
Housing includes sandstone terraces and villas near the centre, council-built estates and newer homes on the outskirts. Many older houses have steep stairs and steps to front doors.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway and the local Health and Social Care Partnership provide statutory services. Annan patients are usually treated at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, and we continue rehabilitation at home after discharge.
Annan station is on the Glasgow South Western line between Carlisle and Dumfries, and buses run along the coast. Common goals include walking to the High Street, along the river or out to the Solway shore.
The riverside path from the bridge towards the Everholm area is level and green, which makes it a good first outdoor target after surgery.
The shore path at Powfoot can be exposed and windy, so we usually build stamina on sheltered routes in town before trying it.
