Physiotherapy Services in Blaydon
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Blaydon premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Blaydon, on the south bank of the Tyne west of Gateshead, is known far beyond the north east thanks to the Blaydon Races, the song written by Geordie Ridley in 1862 about a trip to a local horse race. It is still sung at Newcastle United matches, and every June thousands of runners take part in the Blaydon Race, running from Newcastle out to the town.
The town grew on coal, iron and the Tyne keelboats, with industries crowding the riverbank at Derwenthaugh and Stella. Much of that land is now green space. The Keelmans Way follows the river with flat, surfaced paths, while Shibdon Pond nature reserve, near the town centre, has a hide and a short walk around the water.
Above the riverside, the ground climbs steeply to Winlaton, an old village that was once a centre for ironworking and chain making, and on to Barlow. Many terraces and estates sit on that slope, so steep pavements are a daily challenge. Blaydon Rugby Club, at Crow Trees, is a sociable hub for many local families.
North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board plans local NHS care, and most Blaydon patients go to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead or to Newcastle for specialist surgery. Our independent home physiotherapy picks up from the ward or community team.
Blaydon station on the Tyne Valley line and frequent buses to Newcastle and the MetroCentre are important for older people without a car. Typical aims include walking to the shops, getting back up the hill to Winlaton and managing a train into the city.

Helping active people recover from sports injuries and safely return to sport and performance.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.
