We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Bordon premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Bordon, together with Whitehill, forms a town in East Hampshire close to the Surrey and West Sussex borders. For over a century it was dominated by a large army garrison, which the Royal Engineers left in 2015.
Since then, the former military land has been rebuilt as a new town with homes, a new town centre and green spaces. Whitehill and Bordon was one of the first NHS Healthy New Town pilot sites in England.
Hogmoor Inclosure, a large heathland and woodland park, has firm paths, ponds and a café. The Deadwater Valley trail follows a stream through woods, and Woolmer Forest and the Shortheath Common heathland lie nearby.
Housing includes former army homes, post-war estates in Whitehill, cottages in Lindford and Headley and many new homes on the old garrison land. Newer houses are often built over three storeys with several flights of stairs.
NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board commissions care. Bordon patients are often treated at Frimley Park Hospital or the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, and we continue their rehabilitation privately at home after discharge.
There is no station in the town, so buses to Farnham, Alton and Petersfield are an important link. Typical aims include the new shops at Prince Philip Park, Hogmoor Inclosure or the Deadwater Valley trail.
The main paths at Hogmoor Inclosure are wide and well surfaced, so they suit longer walks as confidence returns.
With many three-storey homes, we often focus on stairs early so patients can use their whole house again.
