Burnham-on-Crouch is a small town on the north bank of the River Crouch, on the Dengie peninsula in the Maldon district. It is known as a centre for yachting, with several sailing clubs, marinas and the famous Burnham Week regatta at the end of August.
The High Street has a Victorian clock tower and a mix of independent shops, while the Quay is lined with weatherboarded cottages, pubs and the sailing clubs. Watching the boats from the riverside is a favourite pastime for many residents.
A level sea wall runs along the river, with a firm path and wide views. It makes a good walking route for people building up stamina after an operation, as long as they are confident on their feet outdoors.
Housing includes old cottages near the Quay, Victorian terraces and newer estates on the edges of town. Many homes have steps up from the road or narrow stairs, and we plan sessions around the real layout of each home.
Burnham-on-Crouch falls within NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board. Residents are usually treated at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, and we can carry on rehabilitation privately after they return home.
The town sits at the end of the branch line through Southminster, with trains connecting to Wickford. Buses are limited, so many people rely on cars, which makes safe car transfers an important skill.
Southminster, Asheldham and Dengie lie among wide, open farmland, where homes can be some way from shops. We help people plan their routines, practise outdoor walking and manage gravel and uneven ground.
Wind across the estuary can be strong, so we teach people to steady themselves, turn safely and rest when walking along the sea wall.

Helping older adults maintain mobility, strength and independence safely at home.

Safe, structured recovery after surgery to restore strength, mobility and function at home.

Expert assessment and treatment of muscle, joint, bone and soft tissue (MSK) conditions at home.
