Physiotherapy Services in Caerleon
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Caerleon premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Caerleon is a historic town on the River Usk just north of Newport, built over the Roman legionary fortress of Isca. Its amphitheatre, barracks and fortress baths are among the best preserved Roman sites in Britain.
The amphitheatre is set in a grassy field close to the High Street, with gently sloping banks. Walking around its rim is a popular and achievable goal for people rebuilding confidence.
The National Roman Legion Museum and the fortress baths have level floors and seating. Visiting them is a good indoor option for practising standing and walking on rainy days.
Paths along the Usk lead towards Newport and up past the old bridge. The riverside is mostly level, though some sections can be muddy, so we choose routes carefully.
Caerleon falls under Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, with surgery and emergencies usually at the Grange University Hospital or the Royal Gwent in Newport. Home physiotherapy can continue from there.
The Ffwrwm arts courtyard and the High Street cafes make good resting points on longer walks. Many clients set a target of walking to coffee and back without stopping.
Homes range from period cottages with steep stairs to newer houses on Lodge Hill. Each programme fits your home.
An indoor routine is always included for wet Welsh weather.
The Hanbury Arms by the old Usk bridge is where Tennyson is said to have stayed while writing Idylls of the King, and the Roman barracks at Prysg Field show the outlines of soldiers' rooms in low stone walls. Stepping over those low walls and along the grassy rows is useful balance practice before longer outings on the Usk paths towards the Ship Inn.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
