Physiotherapy Services in Church
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Church premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Church is a small town in Hyndburn, Lancashire, between Accrington and Oswaldtwistle. It takes its name from St James's Church, known as Church Kirk, one of the oldest churches in the area.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs through the town, with a flat towpath that is ideal for walking practice. The bridges and locks make useful markers.
Church was once at the centre of the cotton printing and chemical industries. Today the old mill sites have given way to housing and green space.
Oswaldtwistle Mills, a large shopping and cafe complex nearby, is a popular destination. Walking around it is a good indoor option for building stamina.
Church patients usually go to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for surgery and emergencies. Home physiotherapy can continue once you are back.
The Hyndburn Greenway, an old railway line turned walking and cycling path, links the town with Accrington. It is level and well surfaced.
Homes include stone terraces with steep stairs and newer estates. We adapt exercises to your home.
Lancashire rain is frequent, so indoor work is always included.
Many residents use the leisure centre pools in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle once our visits finish. Peel Park and the Coppice above Accrington give longer walks with hills and views over the Hyndburn valley. St James's churchyard has paths beside the canal where kingfishers are sometimes seen. Foxhill Bank Nature Reserve, between Church and Oswaldtwistle, has old mill lodges, woodland paths and benches, and is a quiet place to build up longer outings. Many terraces near Market Street have a step down to the back yard, which we practise as part of everyday safety.

Specialist home-based rehabilitation to improve movement, strength, balance and independence for people living with neurological conditions.
