Physiotherapy Services in Coleford
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Coleford premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Coleford is a market town in the west of the Forest of Dean, close to the Wye valley. Its centre is marked by the clock tower, all that remains of an old church in the market place.
The town centre is small, with shops arranged around the market place and gently sloping streets. A circuit of the market place is a useful first outing.
Puzzlewood, an ancient woodland with mossy rocks and winding paths, lies just south of the town. Its paths are uneven and stepped, so it is a later target.
Forestry tracks around Christchurch and Berry Hill are firm and broad. They give good routes for building stamina once you are walking confidently.
Surgery is usually done at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital. The Forest of Dean Community Hospital in Cinderford provides some local care.
Homes include stone cottages, terraced houses and newer estates on the edge of town. We adapt exercises to your steps and stairs.
Wet forest weather is common, so each plan has an indoor version.
The Forest of Dean is famous for its Free Miners, who still hold the right to mine coal in the forest, and the Coleford area has old mine workings, iron ore caves at Clearwell and quarries. Clearwell Caves offer guided underground visits with steps and uneven floors, a challenging target later on. The Perrygrove Railway, a narrow-gauge line on the edge of town, runs short trips through woodland, popular with families. Newland, home of the church known as the Cathedral of the Forest, sits in the valley below, reached by steep lanes. Getting in and out of a car for trips to Monmouth or Lydney is often one of our early practical goals.
