Physiotherapy Services in Crowborough
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Crowborough premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Crowborough sits high on the edge of Ashdown Forest in the Wealden district of East Sussex, and is often described as the highest town in the county. It grew in Victorian times as a healthy hilltop retreat, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived here for more than twenty years at Windlesham Manor. A statue of the Sherlock Holmes author stands at Crowborough Cross in the town centre.
Ashdown Forest, with heather, pine woods and wide open heathland, stretches north and west of the town. It is the landscape of A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories, and Pooh Sticks Bridge near Hartfield still attracts visitors. Some forest paths are firm and gentle; others are sandy, rutted or steep, so we choose routes carefully.
The town is spread over hills and valleys, with Victorian villas, inter-war houses and large modern estates. Crowborough station is actually at Jarvis Brook, in the valley on the south-east side, and has trains to London Bridge via Uckfield and Oxted, which means a steep walk or a bus for many residents.
NHS Sussex plans health services here, though many Crowborough residents are treated at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury, just over the border in Kent. Some community services run from Crowborough War Memorial Hospital. Our private home physiotherapy continues on from any of these.
People often want to walk to the shops at Crowborough Cross, get to the station at Jarvis Brook or enjoy Ashdown Forest again. Hills are a big part of daily life, so we focus on stamina, slopes and safe use of walking aids outdoors.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.
