Physiotherapy Services in Derby
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Derby. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist visiting you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Derby became a city in 1977, and today around 260,000 people live inside its council boundary, from Allestree, Darley Abbey and Oakwood in the north to Littleover, Mickleover and Sinfin in the south-west, and Chaddesden, Spondon, Alvaston and Chellaston to the east and south. Normanton, Pear Tree and the Arboretum area lie close to the centre. Villages such as Duffield, Borrowash and Etwall have Derby addresses but belong to surrounding Derbyshire districts. These names describe the area; they are not a list of places we promise to reach, so please check your own postcode below.
Derby has long been an engineering city. Rolls-Royce builds aero engines here, trains have been made at the Litchurch Lane works since the nineteenth century, and Toyota's car plant sits just outside the city at Burnaston. Many older residents spent decades in physical, shift-based jobs, and plenty of current patients still work in engineering, so getting back to work, or to a hobby that matters, is a frequent goal we plan around.
The River Derwent runs through the city, and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site begins at the Silk Mill in the centre and follows the valley north through Darley Abbey towards Belper. The riverside paths and Darley Park are popular for walking, and returning to a favourite route is a goal we often work towards, step by step.
Most Derby patients are treated at the Royal Derby Hospital, run by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital on London Road. We are independent of the trust and do not receive your records automatically, so please keep your discharge letter and any precautions from your team to hand. With your permission, your physiotherapist can contact them if something needs checking.
Homes in Derby range from Victorian terraces in Normanton, Pear Tree and around the Arboretum, with steep stairs and rear yards, to interwar semis in Allestree and Chaddesden and newer estates in Oakwood, Mickleover and Chellaston. Bungalows are also common towards the edges of the city. Your physiotherapist will look at your own stairs, bathroom and front step and keep the advice practical.
