Physiotherapy Services in Sheringham
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Sheringham premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Sheringham is a seaside town on the North Norfolk coast that grew from two fishing settlements, Upper and Lower Sheringham. The crab and lobster boats still launch from the beach, and the old lifeboat sheds near the slipway are reminders of how closely the town is tied to the sea.
The North Norfolk Railway, known locally as the Poppy Line, runs steam trains from the heritage station opposite the main line platform to Holt. Plenty of residents who are recovering set a trip on the Poppy Line as a goal, because it involves steps, a platform and a narrow carriage door.
The promenade is level and wide, with shelters and benches along its length, and makes a sensible first walking route once confidence returns. Beeston Bump to the east is much steeper, so we keep it for the later stages when stamina and balance are clearly improving.
Houses in the town are often built of flint and brick, with Victorian and Edwardian villas on the roads above the seafront and bungalows towards Upper Sheringham. Many people here retired to the coast, and our visits regularly focus on stairs, bathroom access and getting up from low chairs.
Sheringham falls within NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board. Surgery and emergency admissions are usually at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and once someone is discharged we can continue rehabilitation privately at home.
The High Street, Station Road and the Little Theatre are close together, so walking to the shops is a realistic early target. The Sheringham Museum, known as the Mo, sits on the seafront and is another favourite destination for people rebuilding their walking.
Sheringham Park, landscaped by Humphry Repton, has gravel paths, viewing towers and spring rhododendrons. Its slopes vary a lot, so we help people choose the gentler routes from the car park before attempting the walk down towards the coast.
Sea wind and steep steps down to the beach can unsettle anyone who has had a fall, so we practise turning, using rails and stopping safely before heading out on breezier days.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
