We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Sleaford is a market town in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, on the River Slea between Grantham and Boston. The church of St Denys, with one of the oldest stone spires in England, dominates the Market Place. The town grew on agriculture and malting, and the enormous Bass Maltings, a row of eight vast malthouses built in the early twentieth century, stands on the edge of town.
The centre around the Market Place, Southgate and Northgate is compact and largely level. The River Slea flows through the middle, with paths and the Navigation Wharf, home to the National Centre for Craft and Design. The flat landscape makes Sleaford a relatively easy town for walking.
Sleaford has grown rapidly, with large estates at Quarrington and Greylees, the latter built on the site of the former Rauceby Hospital. Housing ranges from stone cottages in the centre to new family homes on the edges. RAF Cranwell is close by, and many patients have connections to the RAF.
Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board plans NHS services. Sleaford patients are generally treated at Lincoln County Hospital, Grantham Hospital or Pilgrim Hospital in Boston. Our private home physiotherapy continues the rehabilitation.
Sleaford station has trains to Lincoln, Grantham and Nottingham. Patients often want to get to the Market Place on market day, walk beside the Slea or catch the train.
Cogglesford Watermill, a working mill on the Slea on a site where a mill has stood since the Saxon period, sits beside a short, level riverside path that makes a pleasant first outing. The Handley Monument, a Gothic memorial on Southgate, is a meeting point in the town centre, and the Monday market fills the square with fruit, vegetables and flowers from Fenland growers. Further out, the Sleaford Navigation towpath follows the restored waterway towards South Kyme, giving flat countryside walking for those who have regained their confidence.
