Stonehouse is a small town in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, set in the Frome valley at the western edge of the Cotswolds. It grew around the woollen mills that once lined the river and the Stroudwater Canal.
The Stroudwater Canal, being restored as part of the Cotswold Canals project, runs along the valley floor. Its towpath is flat and peaceful, and walking a stretch of it is a common goal.
The High Street holds the shops, cafes and library, with the church of St Cyr nearby. Wycliffe College, an independent school, occupies grounds at the western end of the town.
Stonehouse falls under NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board. Gloucestershire Royal is the main acute hospital, with Stroud General and Cheltenham General offering some clinics, and our private sessions can carry on recovery at home.
Stonehouse Court, now a hotel, and the Ocean, a wide stretch of the canal by the old Bristol Road, are local landmarks. The Midland Road and Bath Road shops and the Saturday farmers market are where many people want to walk to.
Housing includes Victorian terraces, post-war estates and large new developments at Great Oldbury. Older homes often have steep stairs, while newer homes tend to be easier to adapt.
Stonehouse station, on the line between Gloucester and Swindon, offers trains to Stroud and London. Getting to the platform confidently is a goal for some residents.
Kings Stanley and Leonard Stanley lie to the south, below Selsley Common. The steep Cotswold escarpment rising behind them is a long-term goal for keen walkers.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
