Physiotherapy Services in Treharris
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Treharris premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Treharris grew up around deep coal pits in the south of Merthyr Tydfil county borough, close to where the Taff Bargoed stream joins the River Taff. It grew quickly in the 1870s.
The town takes its name from F. W. Harris, a director of the company that sank the Deep Navigation Colliery. The pit became one of the deepest in the South Wales coalfield.
Deep Navigation closed in 1991, and the land around it has since been landscaped. Rows of terraced houses still climb the hillsides above the old pit site.
Treharris Library, a handsome stone building from the early twentieth century, stands in the centre. It is a quiet destination for short walks around the town.
Parc Taf Bargoed, created on reclaimed colliery land near Trelewis, has lakes and wide paths. Its smooth, level routes are excellent for steady walking practice.
Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil and the Royal Glamorgan at Llantrisant carry out much of the surgery for local people. Our therapists continue your rehabilitation once you are back home.
The Taff Trail passes close by at Quakers Yard, following old railway and canal routes. Sections of it are a good goal for building stamina.
Most homes are long terraces with back lanes and steep stairs, often set on slopes. We practise stairs, steps and outdoor access in your own house.
Trelewis and Bedlinog lie further up the Taff Bargoed valley. Edwardsville and Quakers Yard are close neighbours on the lower ground.
Nelson sits across the valley in Caerphilly county, with a village green and a historic handball court. Mount Pleasant overlooks the town from the hillside.
Many clients here worked in heavy industry and live with long-term joint or back pain. We focus on practical strength that helps with daily tasks.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.
