Physiotherapy Services in Widnes
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Widnes. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who visits you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Widnes is a town on the north bank of the Mersey, opposite Runcorn. It grew rapidly in the nineteenth century as a centre of the chemical industry, and the Catalyst science museum at Spike Island tells that story. Much of the town is flat, which helps when building up walking after surgery or illness.
Homes include Victorian terraces near the centre and West Bank, post-war estates at Hough Green, Ditton and Halton View, and larger modern houses at Upton Rocks and Appleton. Farnworth has an older village core. We plan our sessions around the stairs, chairs and bathrooms of each home.
Spike Island, on the reclaimed riverside, has level paths beside the old canal and the Mersey, and Victoria Park has gardens, a lake and a café. Widnes station has trains to Liverpool and Manchester. Goals often include walking to the town centre, managing the train or visiting Spike Island again, and we plan each in stages.
Many Widnes residents are treated at Whiston Hospital or Warrington Hospital. We are independent of the NHS, so please share your discharge summary and any precautions. We then design a home programme around your recovery and the walks you want back.
Widnes, on the north bank of the Mersey, was historically a centre of the chemical industry. Spike Island, at the end of the St Helens Canal, has level paths and views of the bridges, and the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre stands nearby. Victoria Park has a glasshouse, a bandstand and flat paths. Homes range from terraces near the centre and in West Bank to post-war semis in Farnworth, Ditton and Hough Green, and newer estates at Upton Rocks. Common goals are walking to the market, visiting family or crossing to Runcorn, and we rehearse the steps each one involves. The Trans Pennine Trail runs through the town, giving flat, traffic-free walking and cycling beside the Mersey for those building up stamina.
