Physiotherapy Services in Yarm
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Yarm premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Yarm is a historic market town in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, built on a tight loop of the River Tees. Its broad High Street, lined with Georgian buildings and edged with cobbles, is one of the widest in the north of England.
The red-brick Town Hall of 1710 stands in the middle of the High Street. Yarm viaduct, with its 43 arches completed in 1849, strides over the rooftops, and the George and Dragon inn is where the promoters of the Stockton and Darlington Railway met in 1820.
Riverside paths follow the Tees around the town, with level stretches and some muddy sections after rain. Preston Park in Eaglescliffe, a short bus ride north, has wide paths, gardens and the Preston Hall Museum.
Homes range from listed town houses and cottages in the wynds off the High Street to large modern estates in Ingleby Barwick and Eaglescliffe. Older properties can have uneven floors and steep stairs.
Care is commissioned by NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. Local people are usually admitted to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton or the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, and we continue their recovery privately at home.
Yarm station lies south of the town served by trains to Middlesbrough and York, and buses link Yarm with Stockton and Middlesbrough. Goals often include walking the High Street, meeting friends for coffee or strolling by the river.
The cobbles along the edge of the High Street are uneven, so we practise on smooth pavements first and then add short cobbled sections as balance improves.
Preston Park gives a level, spacious setting for longer walks, which suits people building stamina after a knee or hip operation.
